Radio Shoma 93.4 launched its first talent search campaign across the UAE in September 2016. The station initiative focused on discovering hidden talents amongst its listeners in partnership with the IMSTAR.TODAY app. The simple 3 step App is the first of its kind in the world allowing users to submit their vocal demos via their smart phones in the privacy of their own homes, without the stress or cost associated with other talent searches. The apps allows listeners to choose a genre of music, rehearse their chosen song and subsequently submit their preferred demo for submission.
During the promotion 1500 users practiced and submitted their final vocals, 300 vocals were reviewed by the panel and 10 were chosen to be placed on the Shoma website ready for the listeners to vote. Out of the 10 finalists 5 were chosen and were invited to attend a recording session at the studio and lastly considering the online votes, judges and professionals Baran was chosen as the first IM STAR winner.
The IM STAR winner is to receive a professionally produced track, a music video plus an interview with Roxana Chegini on the evening show as well as the opportunity for the track to be heard across the UAE through Radio Shoma.
During the promotion Radio Shoma 93.4 received 40,000 votes on multiple platforms
